Bio Notes

Jeffrey Roy Holland (1940-2025). LDS Apostle, member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles from 1994 until his death in 2025. Previously served in the First Quorum of the Seventy (1989-1994). President of Brigham Young University (1980-1989). Born in St. George, Utah. FAMILYSEARCH VERIFIED LINEAGE (Aug 20, 2026): Collateral descendant of Erastus Snow (1818-1888, KWJ4-KJX), LDS Apostle and member of the Council of Fifty who founded St. George, Utah. Erastus is Holland's 3x great-uncle (brother of his direct ancestor William Snow). Chain: Jeffrey Holland (KWHH-C5N) -> Alice Bentley (KWZD-K8N, mother) -> Leonora Snow (L13Z-CCV, grandmother) -> Jeter Snow (KWCG-YXJ, great-grandfather) -> William Snow (KWN2-HVP, 2x great-grandfather, first Bishop of Pine Valley Ward) -> Levi Snow (LZRQ-XZZ) & Lucina Streeter (LZJP-KG1, 3x great-grandparents). Erastus Snow (KWJ4-KJX) is William's brother. The Snow family founded St. George, where Holland grew up. FamilySearch Brief Life History for Amasa Mason Lyman explicitly confirms Erastus Snow's Council of Fifty membership. SIGNIFICANCE: Same Snow pioneer family that built St. George Tabernacle and Temple. Holland's mother Alice Bentley's obituary references 'her pioneer ancestors' who built these structures. Connection to Council of Fifty is through collateral line (3x great-uncle), not direct descent.
