Warder Cresson
Role
Reverse-Direction Conversion Case
Bio Notes
The reverse-direction conversion case: a Christian converting to Judaism who was declared insane. Documented in the Mormon Proselyting notebook (Research_5/185) as a counter-case to the LDS conversion-as-gate pattern. His case demonstrates the asymmetry in how religious conversion was treated legally and socially in the same era that Orson Hyde was dedicating the Holy Land for the return of the Jews.
