Harold G. Hillam

Role

Elder, Presidency of the Seventy, LDS Church

Bio Notes

Harold G. Hillam served in the Presidency of the Seventy of the LDS Church. He was connected to the scouting program at Camp Little Lemhi, the same camp where Adam Steed was abused by scoutmaster Bradley Stowell in 1997. According to Adam Steed's testimony in Episode 1809 of Mormon Stories, Hillam was deeply involved in Jodi Hildebrandt's attacks on Adam, and John Dehlin described a dark connection involving two general authorities but definitely one Elder Hillam. The Hillam family attempted to stop Adam's Idaho Falls temple marriage, which Elder Groberg overrode. Hillam was also present in the courtroom at the bathtub proceeding. This connection between a general authority, the scouting program where abuse occurred, and the subsequent institutional retaliation against the survivor is an open thread. Band: Documented (EP1809 transcript, AP investigation).
